Samurai Sculpt: What I’ve Learned So Far.

To date, there are sixteen live stream replays of the samurai sculpt up on the nickelcitypixels youtube channel. Each video is about two hours, meaning that 32 hours of sculpting has been recorded. Estimating as much time was spent sculpting off-stream means that, to date, 64 hours has been dedicated to creating the samurai character.

Streaming. Revolutionary New Hard Surface Technique?

Holy smokes! In the last live stream, my s̶t̶r̶e̶a̶m̶ ̶o̶f̶ ̶c̶o̶n̶s̶c̶i̶o̶u̶s̶n̶e̶s̶s̶ random babbling led me to an epiphany at 1:59:59! A big exception to that sometimes rule is Ryan Kingslien’s youtube channel. Of course, you get what you pay for; it’s nowhere nearly as informative (knowledge is free, information costs)

With my own book set to drop June 10th, I’ve been thinking about the books that helped me improve. One such book: ZBrush Studio Projects: Realistic Game Characters by Ryan Kingslien. Unbeknownst to me, my artistic skills had stagnated. In the 7 or so odd years since first completing Modeling a Character in 3ds Max I
