Freebie Fridays! Top 5 Best Free WordPress Plugins!

Continuing a trend of Top 5 lists, here are my recommendations for the top 5 best free WordPress plugins. These plugins will help optimize your WordPress site for search engine results, and by extension, profit!

5. Smush: Image Compression and Optimization ( According to best-selling author Nell Patel, “a 1 second delay in page response (load times) can result in a 7% reduction in conversions.” An even slightly slow site might as well be no site. Smush takes the images you upload to the WordPress media gallery and optimizes them to ensure your pages load quickly (first, you’ll have to increase your WP upload limit). For example, Smush took NCP’s load times from 7 seconds to sub-seconds!

4. WooCommerce AltCoin Payment Gateway ( payment-gateway/)

Don’t miss out on money just because you’re skeptical of cryptocurrencies! From the plugin’s page, “WooCommerce AltCoin Payment Gateway plugin helps you to accept bitcoin / any altcoin payment from your woocommerce store directly to your crypto-currency address without subscription / payment to third party software.” No middlemen! Just like Satoshi intended.

3. Yoast SEO (

Yoast SEO automatically reviews the text of your blog and suggests ways to optimize it so that your posts appear more towards the top of search engine results. Therefor, this is a must- have plugin if you intend to monetize your website using ads. The cons are addressed here.

2. AdSense Plugin WP QUADS (

WP QUADS supports AdSense and many Google alternatives. A preferred ad-serving plugin for the ease with which it allows you to configure and position ads.

1. WooCommerce (

Augment your blog with e-commerce functionality using WooCommerce: “a free eCommerce plugin that allows you to sell anything, beautifully.” Including digital downloads? Yes (although you’ll most likely have to install the WP Add Mime Types plugin as did I)! The fact that nearly anybody can set-up an international shop, (and sell 1s and 0s no less) FOR FREE, easily, and in about an hour, is one of those modern miracles of the information age! As a result, WooCommerce is easily my number 1 recommendation for free WordPress Plugins.

And that’s my recommendations for the top 5 best free WordPress plugins. For caveats and links, please see my blog post linked in the description. With these and good copy, you’ll be well on your way in the world of WordPress profits.
