In-patient/out-patient

Sick again. Second sickest since the beginning of the ordeal. Surface Pro 7: broken. Data loss. Yet another life reboot this week.

I had assumed the latest Win 10 update, as per usual, degraded the usability of the Surface Pro 7. What I had forgotten was that the tablet had fallen, (gently, from two feet, with Urban Armor Gear on), two weeks ago. I hadn’t used it since then. In any event, zbrush was unusable, as was 3dcoat; I got constant black screens.

I tried to create bootable media to roll-back to a potentially trouble-free time. At some point in the process, Windows decided to play a clever prank on me and re-assigned drive names (I know it sounds like a crazy excuse but it’s all true) and I wound up inadvertently overwriting my work.

Previously, luckily, I had sense enough to save my work to a removable micro sd card separate from the OS. This is important because Fix-it rates the Surface Pro 1 out of 10 in terms of physical break-down. This is in turn means that it’s nearly impossible to gain access to data on the Pro 7, physically or otherwise, if the Surface Pro 7 won’t boot. And now my Surface Pro 7 won’t boot. So there’s that. I hope to be able to save some of the data from the card.

Join my continuing struggles as we return to streaming. Things to look for: mods! In celebration of cheating death and hitting 1000 youtube subscribers (soon), I’m treating myself to a Switch mod and a PC Mod!
