To date, there are sixteen live stream replays of the samurai sculpt up on the nickelcitypixels youtube channel. Each video is about two hours, meaning that 32 hours of sculpting has been recorded. Estimating as much time was spent sculpting off-stream means that, to date, 64 hours has been dedicated to creating the samurai character.
Rather than post for each and every live stream, I’m going to sticky this here. It links to the live stream channel, providing info on upcoming live events.
In the last sculpt we began with the guy you’d least like to run into at an “Eyes Wide Shut” type party. Over the course of two hours I tried to figure out the complicated layering that is samurai armor. Then I sculpted some of the cloth that will peek through, imaginatively accommodating the arrival
In this stream I’ll create the samurai’s undergarments.
Last stream everything was going great; the new hard surface tech was working excellently. Then zbrush crashed. This stream is a do-over.
Building on the inspiration accrued from yesterday’s stream, I experiment with some new (to me) hard surface techniques!
Holy smokes! In the last live stream, my s̶t̶r̶e̶a̶m̶ ̶o̶f̶ ̶c̶o̶n̶s̶c̶i̶o̶u̶s̶n̶e̶s̶s̶ random babbling led me to an epiphany at 1:59:59! In tomorrow’s stream I’m going to experiment with a potentially revolutionary, maybe even new, never-before-seen hard surface technique!
