Propaganda Games: Sesame Credit – The True Danger of Gamification – Extra Credits

If you follow me on twitter you know that I like to stay vigilant about this stuff. This is a must-view, folks.

Note how Extra Credits bookends the video with disclaimers that they might be misinterpreting this version of the Matrix. Denial is the most predictable of all human responses.

More dangerous than denying that this will exist in China is denying that it has existed for some time in the US. It’s the same process by which terrorist watch lists and no-fly lists (and soon, gun restriction lists) are calculated. Participation is mandatory; you are already participating. You’re just in denial.

    Hi,I’m a chinese myself,also a game developer.

According to my experience, the so call ‘SESAME CREDIT’,or ‘zhi ma fen’ in china,is not mandatory at all.
It is just a optional credit system provided by alibaba, just like credit score in the credit card system.
You can gain scores by paying your credit bills in time, and lose some in overdue situation.
But not in situations like ‘taking photos in Tian an men’, that is a rumour. I mean, it’s too ridiculous to be true.
It just provides some benefits when using certain products from alibaba group.
e.g.,In ‘闲鱼’,a secondhand goodies trading app like ebay, the approximate credit score can be provided to buyers and sellers before trading.By approximate,it’s like ‘A’,’B’,’C’ type ranking.
It’s just a reference for users to decide whether they want to make deal with the potential trader or not.

As for the government, I have no idea whether they are using the sesame score or not.
It is likely they will take it into account when you want to make a huge amount of loan,or when you want to apply for a public service job.
I mean, let’s face the truth, the US gov, or any other gov, can access their citizens’ credit card score without any trace, if they want to. And you won’t even notice it.
All govs do propagandas, and defame their opponents, no exception. Sometimes they fund some medias to spread the words.
I do not mean that all medias are lying. It’s just too difficult for ordinary people, like us, to separate some lies from mostly true informations.
I just hope that you are not misleaded by some rumours. We should not judge people by their political tendency.

Anyway,I hope you are doing well.Stay healthy and stay smart.

We have things like that in the States, too. I like to call them “consent by breathing clauses.” They’re agreements that “aren’t mandatory,” unless you want to participate in society. In which case, they are totally, completely, 100% mandatory.
