I’m working on a VR project! I learn stuff and share stuff, some of which is awesome!

This is a WIP, but I think it looks pretty good so far! Can’t wait to try it out in stereoscopic 3D!

/* Future Mike here. It’s in-game now, I’ve tested it with Google Cardboard on a Galaxy S6. Unfortunately, it is underwhelming. The mobile platform simply rejects a lot of the design and fx choices (such as bloom) in order to run. Similarly many of the Marmoset shaders, though listed as “mobile,” don’t work. Consequently, a lot of the vegetation appears as silhouettes. Some Marmoset  mobile shaders work of course, but assigning them scene-wide means reverting to an earlier, pre-Mesh Baker mesh baked save. */

Note the design choice: by starting the character perched perilously at the top of a radio tower I hope to get an immediate and visceral “wow” reaction!

/* This actually worked well. The original radio tower was obtained for free from the Unity Asset Store. Adding details such as metal welds and a bird’s nest gave greater depth to the immersion. I’m currently considering investing in a Samsung VR headset to see if better hardware results in greater depth. */

I’m excited about this project! NCP will be offering unpaid internships on this and other projects shortly! Check the for details!
