As promised in yesterday’s post, here is a very useful link that will help developers do some back of the napkin guesstimations. Not to be confused with proper projections or calculations, this napkin scrawl is still far superior to the Dinofarm formula:

In the article the author likewise cites fake Kickstarter goals for jamming up deal flow. She accuses AAA devs of perpetuating the no-cost game development myth, but in fact indies are riding the Dinofarm formula into a price deception death-spiral as well.

The take-away is this; an average studio should calculate its burn rate at $10,000 per employee for every month needed to complete its game.
