Retopo: 99% done!
EOM. It’s late. :/
EOM. It’s late. :/
My greatest fear with this was that it wouldn’t even be possible; it wasn’t impossible, but it was still a bit of a nightmare! Thankfully, it’s done now! 🙂
It doesn’t seem like much but the knots took quite a bit of time. Technical errors took up a lot of time too. All things considered, I’m satisfied with the progress.
So I didn’t get too much done today. But successfully retopoing a torus knot is always an accomplishment!
Today I finished up retopo and UVs for all the things highlighted in the picture! 2021 is off to a great start (work-wise anyways). Expect streaming to resume shortly! 🙂 Mostly for my own benefit, here’s a to-do list of everything that still needs to be retopo’d: neckGuards powderHornRopes salakotHardware salakotKnots salakotRopes clavicleTassels(sp?!?!) mainBody(needs tweaking)
This is about 90% done. Pretty pleased with the results, but I’m going to have to watch a bunch of Substance Painter tutorials to take it to the next level. I need to learn how to add damage effects via the normal map and mess with the specular. Side note: I’m always amazed by side-by-side
I’m going to create a “what to expect from NCP in the new year” post soon. In the meantime, take a look at all the retopo work that’s been going on! This represents about 100hrs of work all completed just last week! Productivity overload!
Rather than post for each and every live stream, I’m going to sticky this here. It links to the live stream channel, providing info on upcoming live events.
I’ve had a bad go of it the last few weeks. Not because of the Corona virus; as a result of the cancer-related GvHD my daily routine has long since consisted of obsessive hand washing, glove and mask wearing. And I like not many things more than I like social distancing. But for reasons unrelated
To date, there are sixteen live stream replays of the samurai sculpt up on the nickelcitypixels youtube channel. Each video is about two hours, meaning that 32 hours of sculpting has been recorded. Estimating as much time was spent sculpting off-stream means that, to date, 64 hours has been dedicated to creating the samurai character.
